Hi,
I am just wondering what the effect on AMYUNI functionality is if the switch "/p" is present or absent when installing, i.e. what is the difference if the spooler stops/restarts or does not ?
This is because we have to install AMYUNI printers on NT/TSE Citrix production servers, and wish to avoid stopping the spooler, which could cause printing errors in running applications during the installation (of course, just a very short time, but we have no error right at all ...)
If we use "/p", will the driver be correctly installed and available, as without the switch ? (if no AMYUNI printer was installed on the server yet)
If yes, what is the benefit of not using it ? (i.e. of stopping/restarting the spooler ?)
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kind regards.

Spooler stop during printer installation
Hello,
If no printer was installed on the server you can run Insall /p.
It is advisable to install the printer when all applications are closed, specially that the printer would be installed once on the server and it will stay there.
Concerning the spooler, all the driver files cannot be deleted or replaced because they are loaded by the spooler, this is why you need to restart the spooler after installing a new version of the printer if an older version exists on the system.
Hope this helps.
