Append is slower in versions 2.08 and later

Post by ClawsonC »

I have noticed a significant decrease in performance when appending or concatenating documents using versions 2.08 and higher (including 2.10) relative to version 2.05. The process takes longer and longer as each new file is appended. I have tried using Concatenate in the FileNameOptions as well as the Document.Append method. In both instances the process took much longer using the latest versions of PDF Converter (2.09 and 2.10d) than in 2.05e. I am working with small documents - 8Kb - 10b. A process that took about 45 seconds now takes about 4 minutes. I have tested this in both Windows 9x and Windows NT/2000/XP with similar results.

I have exactly the same problème. The version 1.59a is very fast with the append option, but the 2.10 is 10 times slower

Hello,

Our developers are currently checking for any delay when using the Append function.

It is strange that two documents that are 10 KB each take 4 minutes to be appended together. Please Clawson send us the documents you are mentioning or any two sample documents that are taking 4 minutes to Append together.

Thanks.

Here are some specifics regarding the example I gave you. The final document was created by appending 85 PDF files, all of which were created by PDF Converter. The files ranged in size from 5 kb to 89 kb, averaging about 17 kb. Most of the files contained documents consisting of just a single page but several contained up to 10 pages. My application creates its final output by printing each user selected page to a temporary PDF file which is then appended into a CdIntf.Document document.

For my part, I am appending about 30 PDF files containing from 1 page to 25 pages. All are created with PDF Converter 2.10d. The final output PDF file is about 950 kb. The PDF printer is created with the Append option.

Thank you for any solution

Hello,

We have released a new version 2.10i-6 of the driver, did you try this version?

If you already send a sample test case that reproduces this issue to our Technical Support, you may follow up by sending an e-mail to support@amyuni.com to see if these files will be appended faster using the new version.

Otherwise, please feel free to download the new version and try it to see the outcome. One of the improved issues in this new version is the Merge speed of the driver.

Before installing the new version please uninstall any previous versions of the driver and then reboot your system.

Hope this helps.
