PDF files too large

Dear all,

I am an IT support/administrator in a Medium sized company and we use have licensed PDF converters for some of our users who regularly need to converter word documents to PDF files.

Recently, one user has been complaining about two things:
-some word files do not convert well to PDF, the size is extremely large.
-an error message appears when trying to open some of these files (there was an error opening this document. This file is already open or in use by another application) => which is not true because the file is closed and not in use, i think this might be due to the size as well.

as for the content of the files, we have two examples, one of them contains many pictures, and has a total size of 1.58 MB when in Word file, but becomes just over 50MBS when converted, the other file contains no pictures, regular word formattin with some colors and with rows and columns it goes from being 652kb to 118MB!

I tried to change some of the options a couple of times, with no real result.

Is there something that can be done? We have been having this problem for many weeks and some users are really complaining, we don't yet have a solution, the files work fine when converted with Adobe, they are small in size and openable... but very few users have adobe license so this is not a solution, we have also tried PDF creator which is a free program but that is not a solution either because the output of the files are horrible in quality.

Hello,

Did you try using JPEG Compression? It should give you optimal results.

The results you are getting are not expected at all.

Please let me know which version of the PDF Converter you are using and how you are setting Jpeg Compression and which level are you using.

thanks for your quick response,

i have tried JPEG conmpression, in fact at the highest level (9)
no result, file is nearly 63 MB large

the version we own is 2.09c PRO

Please try Jpeg Level 1 and let me know what you get.

If you didn't get small output I suggest that you try our latest version 3.02 using Jpeg Level 3 or below, i am sure you will get small output.

If you have a current maintenance plan you can send you sample file to Support@amyuni.com and our Technical Support team will convert it to PDF using the new version of the PDF Converter and will send you the output.
