Error Code -1 while installing

Post by starving_artist »

It was a Spooler error.

I'm not sure of the version of the this appliation off hand (it came with Quickbooks 2006.)

Does anyone know of a reference for error codes encountered during installation? That would be really handy for me.

Cheers!

Hello,

I will post here the list of possible messages you can get when running our Install.exe
List of possible errors when launching Install.exe:

Error Code 1930: Your Print Driver is not compatible with a policy enable on your computer
Source: This occurs under XP or Windows 2003, if the security policy "Enable installation of Kernel mode printer drivers" in the local security policy is set to off.
Resolution: Set this policy to ON (http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;282011) or upgrade to version 2.1 of the Amyuni PDF Converter, which has an additional user-mode printer driver that overcomes this issue.

Error Code 1801: The printer name is invalid
Source: This message occurs when installing a printer for the first time and / or the printer name does not exist in the printer's folder
Resolution: This should be considered as a notification and not a error message.

Error Code 126: The specified module could not be found.
Source: Unknown.
Resolution1: Install the printer using the ‘Add a Printer’ wizard.
Resolution2: Check Technical Newsletter 2 in the forum (Copy framedyn.dll to the windows\system32 directory)

Note 1: In our tests we have found that the "Error code 126" occurred as a result of a service pack released by Microsoft a while back and that updating to the latest service pack will also resolve this situation. We unfortunately have not been able to pinpoint the exact service pack that caused the problem. Other printer manufacturers have reported similar problems with their printer driver after installing service pack 1.

Note 2: I have found that uninstalling certain programs in Windows XP changes the Path environment variable in the registry from a Reg_Epand_SZ to a Reg_SZ. This variable is located in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment.

Correcting this variable type and rebooting allowed the Windows XP workstations to install the Amyuni driver.

Error Code 5: Access is denied for a specific file
Source: The file is already in the system directory but it is marked as Read Only
Resolution: Delete the file from the system directory before reinstalling the driver.

Error Code 2: The system cannot find the file specified
Source: The specified file is not in the same directory as Install.exe or it is marked as Read Only.
Resolution: Check that the specified file is in the same directory as Install.exe and that it is not marked as Read Only.

Error Code 1797: The Printer driver is unknown
Source:
Resolution: Check that you are logging to the system as Administrator.

Error Code 3000: The specified print monitor is unknown.
Source: This may happen rarely when installing the driver
Resolution:

Error Code 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Source: Some applications are opened when running Install.exe
Resolution: Check that all applications are closed and then run Install.exe again.

Error Code 87: The parameter is incorrect.
Source:
Resolution:
Error Code 1722: RPC Server Unavailable
Source: Our install procedure can not restart the printer spooler during the initial installation.
Resolution: Run Install –p from the command prompt instead of Install.exe.

Error Code -1:
Source: Our install procedure can not restart the printer spooler during the initial installation.
Resolution: Run Install –p from the command prompt instead of Install.exe.

Error Code 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.
Source: This might happen when a user has an HP printer installed
Resolution: stopping the HPZTSB*.EXE (e.g.: HPZTSB05 or HPZTSB06, or…) process resolves the issue.
