Amyuni PDF converter as part of Quickbooks Pro 2006
Amyuni PDF converter as part of Quickbooks Pro 2006
I recently upgraded from QB Pro 2005 to QB Pro 2006. Both programs use a PDF converter to enable attaching documents to e-mails. The converter in the 2005 version worked fine. The version included in 2006 crashes during installation with an error of install.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Later if you try to save a file as PDF or e-mail a file the QB program crashes with the error quickbooks has encountered a problem and need to close. I have spent two hours on the phone with quick books support to no avail. Nothing else has changed on this computer except the version of quickbooks and the PDF converter. I use this feature alot and need to make this work.

Hello,
In general for this kind of issues you need to get back to your application provider because they would know which version of the PDF Converter they are using and how they are installing the PDF Converter.
Do u know which version of the PDF Converter is installed with QuickBooks 6? Are you getting any install.log file when installing the printer? If you are please let me know what is the content of this file.
I can't be sure if this issue is related to the PDF Converter or not .

If I run the install.exe file as a stand alone I do see the contents of fhe log. It shows no errors, but when it is installing the printer it crashes and says it has encountered a prblem and needs to close. I can't send you a copy of the log right now as I am on the road. Please let me know if you need to see it and I will send the contents to you over the weekend.
Thanks

Hello,
In order to narrow down the source of this issue you will need to post some information about your system.
1- What version of Windows are you running?
2- List all of your installed printers.
3- Verify that your system has a FILE: port. Although the PDF Converter doesn't use this port, it needs to access to it.
Hope this helps?

Thanks for you help. The OS is XP Pro, and all printers have been uninstalled to be sure there is no conflict. I checked the port and a file port does exist, but the converter is pointed to LPT1. I am begining to think that this is a widows issue. If I had a lst of required files and services I could confirm that they are present and started.
This is not a windows issue, but rather an upgrade issue. I did a sucessfull installation of Quickbooks Pro 2005 (including PDF Converter) on a clean install of XP. I then tried to upgrade Quickbooks to 2006 and the PDF coverter installation crashed as stated in the original post. In the mean time I purchased a full copy of your PDF converter and was not able to install it either. At this point I did asystem restore to the point just before Quickbooks 2005 was installed and I was able to install Quickbooks 2006 and the converter with no issue. At this point I tried to install the full version and it crashed in the same maner as in the original post. Resoring back to before quickbooks was installed allowed me to install the full version of PDF converter without error. From this experience I would say that the old version is not being removed by the new installation and causing the problem. I would like to have both the QB version and the full version on the same machine if possible.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
This turned out to be a printer confict. I have a Canon Multipass printer that confilcts with the installation of the Amyuni PDF printer. If you have this printer or something like it you will need to uninstall the entire printer suite before installing or upgrading any of the Amyuni PDF printers. Once the PDF printer is installed you can re-install your ohter printer without any problem. I have tried to notify QB of this problem, but I don't think anyone is listening.
