Embedded images in PPT file show up jagged

Post by trumpetinc »

Hi-

I have a PPT file that we are converting to PDF. There is an image that comes out looking pretty bad in the resultant PDF, but it looks great in Powerpoint, and prints nicely to paper from powerpoint.

The image has curves in it, and the curves are anti-aliased. It appears that the anti-aliasing is causing the converter to mess up...

If I change the printer resolution, the quality of the anti-aliased curves changes a bit, but it never looks good.

It appears that the anti-aliasing is just getting messed up.

If I print to Adobe's PDF Writer, the result looks good.

Is it possible that the Amyuni converter is doing a poor job on downsampling or upsampling images? Or are there some best practices that need to be addressed in the PPT file?

I can provide example PPT and PDF files if someone can take a look.

Thanks!

Hello,

Did you try to check 'Enable Post Script simulation' when printing?

If this didn't help please send your sample file to support@amyuni.com so we can check it.

I just tested with "Enable post script simulation", and it didn't make a difference.

However, I did notice that the image in question was created with a transparent background, and I'm thinking that may be causing the problems.

I'm having the graphic designer re-generate the graphic without transparency, and we'll see how it goes.
