Adobe 8 Reader is able to add / edit comments on a PDF but only if a document restriction to disallow this is removed. This can be done with Adobe Acrobat and, I think, a number of other tools.
Is there a way to produce PDFs with Amyuni Converter (or modify them with Amyuni Creator) so that when they are loaded in Adobe 8.0 Reader the user can add comments?
I would prefer to use the Amyuni Creator control for viewing the PDFs, but the lack of support for font smoothing there is a problem.
Thanks.
Way to remove Document Restrictions on PDF?
Hello,
Any file generated by the PDF Creator can be edited in Adobe 8 and you can add / edit comments to it.
Are the pdf files generated by the PDF Converter encrypted? If they are you need to give the users the right to edit the pdf documents and add annotations to them.
For font smoothing, this is something our developers are working on but i am not sure when it will be implemented in our products.

Joan,
The PDF files we produce with Amyuni Converter are not encrypted. Also, we produce PDF files by merging 2 (Amyuni Converter generated) files using Amyuni Creator. In neither case can we add comments to the resulting PDFs with Adobe Reader 8.
Here's some information from the Adobe Forum:

Commenting Not allowed, even in docs I create Reader 8.1.1
This feature is only in Acrobat Pro and some other seriously expensive
software too.

Does your comment refer to Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader? What we'd like to do is to allow users to be able to add comments to our Amyuni Converter generated comments using Adobe Reader 8.0.

Hello,
Acrobat Reader will definitely not enable you to edit the pdf file if you have the Reader only version. I thought you have the full version.
You need to have either the Professional version of Acrobat our our PDF Creator.
Both tools will enable you to edit PDF files.
You can download an evaluation version of our PDF Creator from our site www.amyuni.com
Hope this helps.
