PDF Converter 3.0 error on Vista X64

Post by italital »

Hello,
we have some problems trying to use Amyuni PDF Converter 3.0 on Vista 64 bits. The process fails with the message "Activation Error - Printer not activated, error code -41". Our same application on Windows Vista 32 bits does'nt have any problem, it seems to be an incompatibility between x64 systems and PDF Converter 3.0.
We also tried the newer version 3.01a, but it have the same problem.
In other posts on this forum, someone suggest to do a small workaround to resolve problem with Vista 64 bits: create a new port and attach the PDF printer on the newly created port, but I don't understand exactly what to do and if this workaround resolve our problem.
What can we do to resolve our error?

Thank you for your support!

Hello,

Error code -41 means that you are trying to activate a newer version of the PDF Converter using an older activation code.

It could be that your application running on Vista 64bits still have the activation code for version 2.5 of the PDF Converter. Please make sure that any activation code used to activate version 3.0 of the Converter is actually for version 3.

The workaround mentioned in the forum is for a different issue. Under 64-bits architecture after installing the printer on the default LPT1: port, you need to create a new port and attach the PDF Printer to it.

what are the port instructions- how does one do that

What are the special port instructions- how does one do that? Are they needed for all 64-bit Vista systems? Please provide more information Joan.

We also have a user with a problem running 3.00 on Vista 64 bit computer. The driver itself installs properly, so that tells us the license code is correct. However, when actually used in the software, an activation error message occurs, I believe a -30 error code. The software and 3.00 driver work fine on other computers with other versions of windows. We had updated the licensing code for 3.00 to make it work in general, so I know that's not the issue.

Hello Donna,

Please try the following:
- Go to the printer panels, right click on the PDF Printer, and select Properties.
- Click on the Port tab
- click on Add Port and create a Port called PDF1 lets say.
- Highligh the PDF Printer (installed supposedly on LPT1:")
- Check the check box near the PDF1: port that you just created and click Apply.
- The PDF Printer will be assigned to the PDF1: port

This is a workaround for 64-bits systems only when the application hangs when printing to the PDF Printers

Error code -30 means that the printer has timed out before printing starts.

Hope this helps.

Thanks- we'll give that a try

Thanks, that might be the problem.
The driver does actually hang with an hourglass forever in one area of the program, but causes the -30 activation error in another. So we'll give the work around a try and see if it resolves the user.
