Specify printer port

Post by danadanny »

Hi.

We are currently using Amyuni PDF Converter Developer Pro 3.

I wonder if there is any way of specifying a printer port during silent install.

Help and advise is deeply appreciated.

Danny.

Hello Danny,

Yes you can specify the port name while installing the printer silently.

You can use Install -s -o "portname" -n"licensename" -c "activationcode"

Hope this helps.

Hi Joan,
Thanks for your reply.

I tried the following command, ie, Install -s -o "LPT2" -n xxx -c yyy but it doesn't seem to work. The pdf converter still points to LPT1.

Tested on a virtual machine, XP SP2, with no print drivers install.

Any ideas?

Based on this thread, http://www.amyuni.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... lable+port, previous versions of the driver utilises PDF port. Why this functionality has been removed for newer versions?

Thanks
Danny.

Hello Danny,

We discussed this by email but I will add a reply here for those who might be browsing this thread.

To overcome this issue you can use
Install -s "My PDF Printer;LPT2:" n xxx -c yyy

the -o switch is not working in Install.exe available with version 3.01a, a fix is applied to the Install file. You can get the new Install.exe by email, it will surely be included in the next release.

Please note that it is up to the calling application to create the port or make sure the port exists, our installer never creates a new printer port.

Regards.
