Random Citrix Crashes and PDF Converter
Random Citrix Crashes and PDF Converter
A customer with multiple users on a Citrix server is having random server crashes but they all seem to be when they utilize a pdf print driver by Amyuni (PDF Converter V 2.10i-7). I have reviewed the forum site and still am not clear on the problem. The error log shows the crashes are due to kernel level print driver. According to other posts - the version driver we are using is a user level print driver but has some kernel level files included for backward compatibility. Any ideas on what could be causing the crashes and what to do to correct the problem?
Hello,
The Amyuni PDF Converter printer driver that is being installed at your customer’s site is definitely "user-mode" driver but with version 2.10 the installation procedure placed the DLLs in the "... W32X86\2" directory for backwards compatibility. This sometimes made developer's believe that the product was using kernel mode drivers.
You can also verify that version 2.10 is affectively a "user-mode" driver by trying to install it under a win2003 system. Windows 2K/XP/.NET by default will not use Windows NT printer (“kernel-modeâ€) driver in order to provide better system stability and if you try to install one of these “kernel-mode†drivers Windows will generate a “Printer Driver Is Not Compatible If a Policy Is Enabled on Your Computer" error message. If you try to install any version 2.07 and higher of the PDF Converter no message is generated which indicates that it is "user-mode" driver.
Hope this helps?
