Quicken Deluxe 07 will not install PDF converter or PdfDrv

Post by cmycar »

1- In 8/06 I upgraded to QWD 2007. During the install process, received an error box. The program continued with full install. Quicken worked fine. Everything...except when I tried to print. Invested over 7 days over the last 4 months with various agents at Live Chat on Quicken.com. They all told me to remove program and printer. I did those steps and even ran a Registry cleaner. Rebooted.

2- Re-installed QWD. Received same error report during Quicken install. I noticed that under error window, there was a message of the Amyuni PDF install program. It appears that the PDF driver is never installed correctly and stops. No change. I then re-installed HP OfficeJet 5610-xi All in One.
Quicken gives error reports and closes down when I try to print anything from program. Selected the HP printer.

3- I downloaded the Amyuni PDF driver trial program. Installed. Same error occurs. The install is halted and program never fully installs.

5- At this point, I am beginning to believe that the problem is with Amyuni install process. It cannot complete installation.

6- I tried to Add Printer and selected the Amyuni PDF driver. It seems to install but upon Print Test Page, get Error -41.

7- Right clicked on selected printer and opened Properties. The box title says "Amyuni Document Converter 2.50 Properties". In the About tab, it says licensed to: N/A and states that the version is "Amyuni Document Converter Version 2.51."

8- In the subdir where I installed the Amyuni program, there is an extra file that is absent fron the Quicken\PDFdrv subdir: acfpdf.drv 327KB. Could it be that the installation process never installed this driver and causes the problems?

9- Just tried to install the PdfDrv250DemoEn.exe once again. Turned off BitDefender and SpyBot S&D. It copied files to c:\Program Files\Amyuni PDF Converter and started to install. It stops when it is performing the install amyuni.inf file and the Windows Error box pops up asking to send file to Microsoft. The error in part states this:
AppName: pdfdrv250demoen.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: pdfdrv250demoen.exe
ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 0000774d

I was able to keep the text file that is sent to MS before it is automatically erased. If Amyuni would like to see what it says, please advise how/who to send to.

I am using XP Pro SP 2 with ALL updates. Use a P4 2GB, 1GB RAM, 250MB HD. I also have Adobe Acrobat Pro 7.0 installed with the Distiller and Designer programs.

If you could provide temp registration for demo, I will change User in the Printers and Faxes section in the About Section.

I have read the other posts here that are related to this problem. On Quicken website, they state that we should copy the framedyn.dll to c:\windows. I checked if there was a space after WBEM. Everything.

Joan, I truly hope you folks can figure out a solution to this. I do not believe it is a Quicken problem as the Amyuni PDF Converter program itself cannot install. I hope the Windows crash text file can be of assitance.

Hello,

I will definitely try to help you.

acfpdf.drv is needed only for Windows 95, 98 and Me. Here is the list of needed files for each operating system:

Windows 95/98/Me: acfpdf.drv
Windows NT4: acfpdf.dll, acfpdfnt.dll
Windows 2000/XP/2003 32-bits: acfpdfu.dll, acfpdfui.dll
Windows XP/2003 64-bits, AMD 64 based: acfpdfuamd64.dll, acfpdfuiamd64.dll
Windows XP/2003 64-bits, IA 64 based: acfpdfuia64.dll, acfpdfuiia64.dll
Common to all versions: cdintf.dll, install.exe, acfpdf.txt

As you are installing the driver from a third party application it is not very straighforward to walk you throught a solution but i will try to give you some advices that might be helful:

1 - Please check that the files of the driver needed for your OS are available in the installation folder , and do a clean install of Quiken, this is supposed to install the driver. Please note that if you are under 64-bits you need to have the 64-bits driver files.

2 - When installing the demo version, you need to install the End User version and not the Developer version so you will not have to activate the printer before using it. Error 41 means the printer is being activated by an old activation code.

3 - Please send us the error you get along with this post's link to support@amyuni.com. The demo version you installeld is signed for Windows XP and is not supposed to genearate any error under 2000/XP, it also works under Vista and 64-bits but it is not signed for Vista yet.

4 - Finally, if you are still facing a problem with the installation, you can get a per incident support ticket that entitles you to get technical support from our support engineers to help you solve the installation problem and update your driver if needed.

Hope this helps.

Quicken WD 2007 and PDF install

Post by cmycar »

Thank you Joan.
I spent 2 hours with tech support from Intuit in India today. The Install.exe MS file stops dead in it's tracks upon installing Amyuni. The Quicken program installs completely other than this "small" problem. I had version 3.0 of Installer. I downloaded and installed newer version 3.01. The problem is still there. When I try to Add Printer, all seems to go well until I try to print Test Page. Error code -41.

I cannot print anything from Quicken. Tech support has given up as he felt it was a MS problem with Amyuni after trying 5 different solutions. I agree. By the way, he waived their fee from the start of call

One of your support folks emailed me and said I would have to pay to solve the problem. I will call 12/22 and see what happens.

Hello Clifford,

Like all software companies, we provide support for all users who have purchased licenses for our products.

In the case of customers who have received the product as part of another application, we unfortunately can not product technical support.

This is mainly due to the fact that our developer customers tend to configure our products to match the specific needs. We have found that in other to actually and quickly trouble shoot these types of issues we require information that the end user may not have or is unaware of.

In reference to your specific issue,
1- add the PDF Converter to your system by going thought windows Add Printers

2- Change the name of the printer that gets installed to the exact printer name that should be installed by Quicken.

If the above suggest does not resolve your issue that I strong suggest that you consider our per incident support.

Hope this helps?

José:

Thank you. I have already performed the steps you advised...4 times. I get Error Code -41. I have requested a Temp user and password to see if the Add Printers routine will work. So far no response.
If not a temp password, how about the User and password that installs with Quicken? I own it and this I believe will finally solve the problem.

Muchas gracias.

The user name and password of Quicken are confidential and can't be given to end users, it is against the license agreement. please send me an email and will try to sort this out.

Mainly the version of the PDF Converter implemented in third party applications should be installed and activated from inside the application, the end user doesn't have to manually do any of this.

Problem solved...with no solution from Intuit or Amyuni

Post by cmycar »

From the beginning of this problem (Amyuni Install.exe would give Windows Error box), I was convinced it was a problem with Install.exe...not Quicken Deluxe, not my Windows setup, and not with the printer drivers from HP.

After 3 months, over 100 hours, 2 Tech support calls to India (Intuit) and Amyuni telling me to pay $29, I downloaded Dependency Walker and analyzed Install.exe. It had a problem with dwmapi.dll, a file installed by IE 7. Removed IE7. Problem still there, but the problem was there before I installed IE7.
Reanalyzed. Now a problem with MSJAVA.dll. Removed JS. Ran Install.exe and the thing worked in about 10 seconds flat. Quicken is now finally printing.

Therefore, it is my conclusion that the Install.exe program could not handle incorrectly registered/installed dlls. Every single program I have installed never had this problem, just the Amyuni install program. I am not a full time programmer, but from what I read on 50 websites, some programs are not coded to handle exceptions very well.

I am writing this for the benefit of those of you that can work with Dependency Walker to trace where the problem may be on your PC. DW will highlight the problem(s) in red. It took about 15 minutes to fix this "problem".

Seasons Greetings.
