How to Set the Outline Font for Bookmarks

Post by curtisb »

Hello,

In our application we are generating bookmarks in PDF documents. The title strings used for these bookmarks can often contain multi-byte characters when run for example, in Japan.

The SetBookmark() function takes a string, but when this string contains multi-byte characters it appears garbled in the outline of the resulting PDF document. This occurs on Windows XP SP2 with all international settings of the OS set to Japanese.

I already have font embedding and MultilingualSupport turned as per the documentation. Asian text looks fine in the actual document, it is only in the left-side Outline strings for the bookmark links that the text is garbled. Is there any way to control this?

We are using PDF Converter 2.50g-4.

Thanks,
Curtis

Hello,

Using unicode or multi-byte characters is not possible in bookmarks for the moment, you need to use ASCII characters (English characters) only. We are currently working on this.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this is very bad news for our application, which ships worldwide.

Is there any ETA on a fix for this? We would like to upgrade the Converter libraries as soon as this is ready for use.

Thanks very much,
Curtis
