Does not work with CCH FormMaster softare

Post by Howard »

The Amyuni PDF printer driver will not work with CCH FormMaster software. When printing, a small pdf is created with no content. It appears in Adobe Reader as a small white square in the middle of the reader. This happens with all version of the converter from 2.10 to the latest 2.50 for both the developer or end user versions. We have tested this on Windows 2000 and XP. The FormMaster software is used in many accounting firms.

Hello,

The situation you have described seems to indicate that the FormMaster application is not passing the correct paper size to the PDF Converter.

Have you contacted CCH's tech support department about this?

Thanks

Yes I have. They are not going to support this issue. Anything we can do programmatically?

We can't do anything programmatically in the FormMaster application, but maybe we can try to locate more precisely the source of the problem.

As I understand you tried printing from FormMaster to version 2.50 of the PDF Converter, do you mean that you downloaded the End User version of our Demo and you tried to print to it or how did you try this?

Did you try to print the same report to our PDF Printer than to a physical printer to see if it will print in the same way?

Yes, I downloaded the demo version of 2.5 to try this. Basically, the FormMaster program will print fine to most print drivers including Adobe Distiller, any HP printer etc. It does not print to Amyuni Printer drivers.

Hello,

I was hoping that using the single user version of the converter you will get better outpput. You can try to set the paper size from the printer Configuration tab before printing.

If using the Single User demo didn't help than i am afraid we can't help you because we can't know how your application is sending data to the printer.

I am afraid we will go back to the suggestion of my colleague Jose.

As per your suggestion, if I change the configuration so that the paper size is set to "letter" and the "Customer Paper size" is set to "0" for width and "0" for length, then it prints fine. These are the valuses that are set when we initialize the Amyuni printer driver. Why are they not retained in the Printer Configuration> Is there a way that we can set these so that the end user in Form Master does not have to change them manually every time they print? Thanks.

Hello Howard,

Are you setting the paper format in the printer installed by Master or in the demo printer you installed?

Thanks,

In our app we set the paper size to "1", the width to "0" and the height to "0" when we initialize the Amyuni printer. However in FormMaster these settings are not retained in the printer configuration screen. Is that what you are asking?

Hello,

The PDF Printer will print using whatever settings are sent to it.

The default settings of the printer are Paper Size = Letter and paper width = paper lenth = 100 but these have no effects unless you choose Paper Size = Customer paper.

You can set the printer settings from the printer Interface but if when printing from your application these settings are not preserved and another page size is being used than you need to check this issue with your application provider and check what page size are they using when sending the document to the printer.
