DriverEnd - required?

Post by Karl Nitschke »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if we *must* call the DriverEnd() function? If the driver is installed, we would simply like to leave it there because other users may be printing to that driver across the terminal services or citrix session.

Yes, I know the driver can be installed manually by the system administrator, however we'd like to avoid a lot of tech support headaches dealing with error messages and problems with users, in the first place. Leaving the driver there once it's been dynamically installed would seem to solve that problem.

But are there any negative side effects to doing this?

Thanks

Which version of the PDF Converter you have, 2.10 or earlier?

If you have version 2.10 and above you can omit the call to DriverEnd.

Hope this helps.

We have version 2.0.209

What happens if the call is omitted? I've done some basic testing and it seems to work OK.

Hello,

If the call is omitted the printer will stay on the system and users will be able to print to it from other applications than yours.

Please tell me which edition of the PDF Converter you have (Developer, Single user, number of licenses) to check if this is conform with the license agreement.

Thanks.

This is a developer licence.

If the printer driver cannot be installed dynamically because the user does not have rights to do so (and these days fewer and fewer users are given such rights by IT people), then the driver must be installed permanently by someone with admin rights, otherwise it cannot be used at all. Is any licencing broken if this is done?

Thanks.

Hello,

If you wish to install the Developer version on the system and keep it there you need to upgrade your license to version 2.10 or to our latest versoin 2.50.

Hope this helps
