Cannot install/uninstall printer driver

My one client has our "Profile PDF Export" (what we called our Amyuni printer) in his printers folder, but we can't re-install, or can't uninstall the it. We tried deleting it, and it won't work, we get the message:

â€œPrinter cannot be removed, either the name has changed or specific printer lost connection to serverâ€

Looks like the problem is because the printer driver (possibly pdfmon.dll) is in use by a program (ours is shutdown) and we canâ€™t get rid of it, and we canâ€™t re-install it. Any ideas what else we can try? Iâ€™ve included the list of errors when he tries to re-install using install â€“p

Hello,

Please check that no application is running when installing the PDF Printer.

pdfmon.dll is an old dll used only in versions 1.5x of the driver. New versions 2.0 and 2.10 do not contain this dll.

Which version of the driver are you trying to install? On which OS are you installing it?

You can force sppoler to stop using " Net Stop Spooler" from the command prompt than restart it using "Net Start Spooler".

The version of PDFMon.dll is 4.0.1381.1.
The version of acfpdf.dll and acfpdfui.dll is 0.2.0.0.
The version of cdintf.dll is 1.0.0.1.
The OS is Windows XP version 5.1.2600.

You mean: "The version of acfpdf.dll and acfpdfui.dll is 2.0.0.0. ", and not 0.2.0.0, right?

When I right click on those files and select properties and then go to the Version tab, the File Version at the top of the dialog is 0.2.0.0, the File Version under Item name: is 4.00, and the Product Version is 1.58c.

Is version 1.58c installed by your application or by the other application?

This is an old version that is not supported anymore.

I am not sure I would be able to help you in the forum because I am not able to get a clear idea of which version you are installing and what is installed before and what applications are running while installing.

Hello!
I've got an Office Medic application used to manage ECG examinations made by me. It contains a PDF creator that allowes me to make pdf files from original images in my computer. After first installation everything was OK but I had to uninstall ane install again the software. Now a cannot make install program to install PDF creator. I tried to stop all unnecessary processes before installation. Maybe I forgot of something? I've got WinXP HE, HP printer installed.
I've already checked the technote about problem with path http://www.amyuni.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=180 but it does not exists at me.
Can you help me how to install PDF creator? (install of PDF creator is hidden in general install program, not a separate file)

Hello,

I guess you are confusing between the PDF Converter and PDF Creator. The PDF Converter is a printer driver that enables you to convert your documents to PDF by printing them to the PDF Printer and the PDF Creator is a PDF viewer and editor, it enables you to view existing pdf documents and create new ones from scratch.

If you are installing the PDF Converter available Office Medic application, please contact Office Medic support, they will be able to give you better information on how they are implementing the driver in their application.

Yes, you're right. I've got a problem with PDF Converter, not Creator. I am in contact with Office Medic support but as to now they haven't been able to help, so I decided to ask here. I think there is something about active processes during program installation and that's why the application is not loaded properly. But if you cannot help me - who knows better Amyuni software? OK, thank you, however, for your answer.
I don't think I could meet another Office Medic user in this forum.

Hello,

I can not help not because i don't know the PDF Converter but because I don't know how this is implemented in the application you are using.

Also please note that it is better to post new requests to a new thread instead of adding your post to an existing threads.

As general advice, please check that all applications are closed and please log on to the system as administrator before installing your application (installing your application should install the PDF Converter also). If the PDF Converter was not installed please check if you got any Install.exe file with your application and use it to install the driver.
