Table borders in Actobat Reader 6

Post by AlexP »

When we print out Word documents that contain tables with visible borders, the output looks ok (even though line styles are wrong!), when viewed with Acrobat 5. When our users open documents in Acrobat 6 Reader, they can see vertical notches where vertical walls of cells connect with horizontal ones, even if vertical walls are not visible.

See examples:

Note the line styles in Word document (Double) and in PDF output (Single, thick)

Hello,

When converting your word document to PDF using the latest 2.10i-8 version of the PDF Converter, I got as output two thick lines (when viewed in Acrobat Reader 6).

You need to submit this issue to Support@amyuni.com to be checked.

Best Regards.

ok. That seems to be an issue with Adobe. More presicely, how they show lines when documents are zoomed in.

The original, most important problem still exists. Open above PDF file and set zoom to 98% or so in your viewer. There are vertical notches where internal vertical borders connect with horizontal lines. THAT is our concern.

Hello,

The notches appear because of the border style you are using, if you change the border style, these notches will not ppear anymore. Also if you use the same border style (double lines) for the whole table (inside and outside borders) the notches will not be that visible.

Hope this helps.

Are you serious???
Please tell me you're joking!!! Instead of fixing an obvious error on your side you suggest I change hundreds of documents? Yours is the only component that has this issue!

Do you honestly think we will spend thousands of dollars in developer licenses of your product after an answer like this???

Thank God we didn't buy it yet!

There are a few alternatives to your component. Unless you want us to move to them, please reconsider your answer.

Hello,

What I advised you was not a solution, it was a suggestion.

I tried to convert your document and noticed that if I change the border style, I will not get the notches anymore so I suggested that changing the border style would help.

I thought that your QA department got this issue while evaluating our product.
If this is the border style of the tables in your documents than definitely you are not going to change them. As I mentioned my suggestion was not a solution.

If you want to get a solution to this issue you need to send a request to Support@amyuni.com, our Technical Support Department will handle your request and check the source of the problem and weather or not it can be overcomed in the driver.

Please note that our Forum doesn't replace Technical Support.

Best Regards.
