PDF disappears

I print PDF files for email, fax, etc. out of a 3rd party report program. When I print to PDF which is sent to my archive file "My Documents" the file is not there. It shows to be in My Recent documents but cannot be opened as the message is, "The shortcut cannot be located, it has been moved or changed." Had been working good, until few days ago and it just went away.
Can any one help?
