Hyperlinks are not converted properly

Post by alexk »

Hello,

I noticed that hyperlinks starting with http:// are not converted properly if the URL is longer than 30-40 characters.

Is this a known issue? I can provide you with sample .pdf files if needed.

Thank you.

Hello,

No, this is not a know issue. I tried to print a hyperlink with 60 characters and it worked.

The number of characters should not cause any problem if the hyperlink is not broken by a dash and is all on one line (and not on two consecutive lines).

Hope this helps.

I just did a few tests.

Type this link in word twice (Times New Roman 12pt):
http://hhhh.com/aaa/bbb/aaa/bbb/aaa/bbb ... b/aaa/bbb/

First time type space after '/' and then ENTER, second time press ENTER without space.

The first link is trunkated to:
http://hhhh.com/aaa/bbb/aaa/bbb/aaa/bbb ... a/bbb/aaa/
while the second is not.
The number of characters should not cause any problem if the hyperlink is not broken by a dash and is all on one line (and not on two consecutive lines).
Why does it stop at dash? It's a valid URL character and many websites are using it, e.g.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defau ... esipat.asp

As to multiline links, is it feasible to detect if it's different lines or just a wrapped link?

Thanks.

Hello,

I tried your test and on my system both links truncates at the end of the first line at:
http://hhhh.com/aaa/bbb/aaa/bbb/aaa/bbb ... /bbb/aaa/b

I am using Windows 2000, Word 2000, page size Letter, and TimesNewRoman 12.

Concering dashes and multilines hyperlinks, we do not support them currently. This is a limitation of our product for the time being.

If you wish to follow up on this issue or log it a customer request please send an e-mail to support@amyuni.com

Thanks.
