Hyperlinks from MS-Word

Post by inapal »

Hi Alls,

I have a problem using PDF Converter 2.06 to convert a MS-Word to PDF file, when the source document has some hyperlinks.

If the hyperlink starts with a standard hyperlink format (ie http://www.mysite.com, or www.mysite.com), then the PDF Converter works fine.

But, if the source hyperlink is masked in a single text, the PDF Converter don't find it (in a Word document, I can define an hyperlink and show it in a single text, for example: "click here").

I tried to get the PDF Converter 2.1 (I'm testing the product, and I'm using a trial demo), but I'cant find it in Amyuni website.

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks,
Ignacio.

Hello,

What you are facing is normal, it is not really a bug. If the hyperlink is masked by a text the PDF driver will detect the text, it will not detect the hyperlink.

We have a free tool for our customers that converts tables of contents in Word documents to hyperlinks in the pdf file. This tool is called ExtractLinks and it is downoadable from: http://www.amyuni.com/en/support/downloads.html

You can download a demo version 2.10 from: http://www.amyuni.com/en/products/pdf_c ... /demo.html

Happy Holidays !

Hyperlinks from MS-Word

Hi Joan,
thank you four your response.

I've understood your point.
My problem is I'm developing an unattended service to convert MS-Word documents to PDF format.

I've tested ExtractLinks tool, and it works very good. But, when the ExtractLinks.dot macro begins, it requires user intervention for define PDF target path, PDF Driver Name and start the process (Step 2 in ExtractLinks.pdf help document).

I've tried to edit the Word macro in order to modify this step and to define this data programatically, but the VBA Macro is protected with a password.

How can I avoid user intervention?

Thank you in advance,
Ignacio.

Hello,

The ExtracLinks utility basically strips hyperlink information from an MsWord document and creates an ini file. Then this ini file is used to programmatically create bookmarks and hyperlinks in a resulting PDF document. In order to successfully create your own custom version of this utility, you will need to purchase our PDF Converter and PDF Creator products.

If you would like open the MsWord macro please send an email to canada.support@amyuni.com and I can assist you with this.

Thanks
