Hello
I was hoping some of you guys might have an idea on an issue I've been having.
I'd first like to point out I'm not a developer but I use an application from a company that utilizes the Amyuni PDF Converter and I figure I'd ask here before getting into an official support request with my vendor as the rest of the software is working fine apart from the PDF "screen printing" function.
The problem is this : my software uses a preview function that displays PO and reports using the Amyuni PDF Converter. On the old server, depending on the type of report, the PDF would be generated either as portrait or landscape automatically depending on the type of report. Now it doesn't. If I run the software locally, I can force the setting through the printer preferences dialog (which obviously is not an option as that is very time consuming for the users) but if I run in Terminal Services, I can't even do that and the program always displays it in Portrait which is wrong for our PO's (the majority of our previews). This is a big issue as this cuts off pricing info.
Is there any setting that I might have missed or something other I might have missed that could account for this behavior on the Amyuni side or, with the limited info you guys have, is this really related to my software itself ?
If you need more info, to get a grip on the problem I've included more info here about the environment. We're currently migrating our old server toward a new dual core machine to account for increased load on it so I started a new install. I also installed Active Directory while we were using a Workgroup environnement. The system has SP2 installed. The default Amyuni version that comes with the software is 1.59a. There is also an upgrade to the software that was applied which comes with a newer version of the amyuni software (version 2.51 I believe) but our old server never upgraded the printer driver (same environment apart from Active Directory) and was working fine and the newer printer driver exhibited some erros (giving a -30 error when going into the printing preferences screen) that was not present with 1.59a so I use that one on the new server as well. I've obviously allowed Kernel mode drivers to be installed. The behavior occurs whether the account is an admin or a user (I've given Printer Operators privileges to my users). I've also tried giving everyone permission to access the whole windows and whole documents and settings folders to see if it could be a permissions issue but that did not help either. I've come to the end of my abilities to troubleshoot on my own. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Amyuni PDF Converter and W2k3 issue
Hi
Thanks for the people who took the time to read this.
I would however like to inform you that I have solved the problem. Since the system was still in testing, it had no physical printers installed so far. The system uses existing printer configuration to determine the orientation of the sheet but it needs a configured installed physical printer for it to work.
So case closed!
