Hello,

So now you have the Demo End User version properly installed on your system.

Are you printing to it from Family Tree Maker or from Word?

Ok Ian, you should be able to do the following:

- open a word document
- click on File --> Print
- choose the Amyuni PDF Printer
- click on "Properties"
- choose the "destination" tab
- select "Prompt for file name"
- click on Ok
- click on Print

and you will get a save as dialog box that allows you to choose the name and location of the pdf file that will be generated.

If you are not getting a pdf file than there is something that is not working properly in the above steps. What is it?

One of our customers has the exact same problem.
He has tried uninstalling and deleting all printerdrivers on his machine and then rebooting before installing the Amyyuni driver that is included with our application. When he tries to print to PDF the save dialog is displayed but no file is created.

Did you try to e-mail our Support Department concerning this issue? If not please send your above request to support@amyuni.com

I guess this is not an issue that can be solved in the forum, it needs more investigation from our Technical Support Representatives to see what precisely is happening on these systems.

Thanks.

could be FaxTalk Messenger conflict

Post by Donna »

In case it helps anyone here, we also had a customer with the problem where the driver appears to process the job, but no file appears in the destination folder. Performing a search in Windows finds a shortcut to the PDF file listed in the C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Recent folder in Windows. However, opening the shortcut there produces an error stating that the file "that this short cut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Would you like to delete the shortcut?" The shortcut properties correctly reflect the destination and file that should have been produced.

Amyuni advised that the situation is being caused by a FaxTalk application installed in the users computer. When printing to the Amyuni Document Converter, no output is generated and no error messages received because FaxTalk Messenger prevents the Document Converter or any other printer from accessing the FILE: port.

Although the PDF Converter does not use the FILE port, it must have access to it. They advised that there are two workarounds for this problem:

1- Upgrade to the latest version 6.0 of FaxTalk Messenger available from http://www.faxtalk.com.

2- Disable FaxTalk Messenger 4.5 when using the Amyuni Document Converters.

I've haven't yet heard back from our user as to the results, but hope this info helps anyone else with this problem!

PDF File not being created

Post by EFCTEST »

When I print using the Amyuni 2.09 printer driver under Windows XP SP 2 a PDF file is not created. I am not running FAXTalk are there any other programs that would cause this type of problem?

Thanks

Don't know, but I'd suggest removing all the drivers and seeing if it fixes the problem. Or one at a time, starting with those most suspect.

As an update to the problem our user was having, he removed the FaxTalk driver since he didn't need it, and his problem was solved.
