PDF Converter issue with Quickbooks 2008 Pro

Post by nmcbride »

I've been trying to work through this with Quickbooks, however I have yet to get a decent response from them. I'm trying to determine if this is a known bug, on an issue directly related to the Amyuni PDF Creator.

Quickbooks 2008 Pro on Windows XP installs the Amyuni PDF Creator so Invoices could be emailed or be saved as a PDF. Upon attempting to send an email or even create a PDF from the invoice, I'm getting an error that basically says that "Quickbooks is unable to access the requested file"... The user is also setup with Administrative priviledges.

I deleted the PDF converter, and it's properly recreated upon another attempt to email , however it still doesn't work. Re-installing either product doesn't have any effect either.

I have a user on win2k using the same version and company file as the other user, but they have no problems.

Hello,

When our products are installed through a third party application, it become very difficult for us to diagnose the reason of a given error message or even to confirm if this error is related to the PDF Converter itself. This is why we mostly advise customers who are facing such problems to check with their application provider.

Please note that the product installed with Quickbooks is our PDF Converter. The PDF Creator is another product we have that allows users to view and edit existing pdf files as well as creating pdfs from scratch.

I am sure Quickbooks Technical Support is going to help you.

I will try also to help you myself. Are you installing Quickbooks on a 64-bits version of XP or on a 32-bits one?

Are you trying to Print to the PDF Converter printer from inside Quickbooks application or from outside it?

Are you getting this error message all the times or sometimes only?

Regards,

Joanna

Contacting Amyuni has been my last resort, as I've been up and down with quickbooks. As I'm sure you know we're all aware of the difficulties when contacting different support groups through different countries, and finding individuals that have resolved the exact issues.

From searching online as well, I've heard murmers that it is a known issue between this version of quickbooks, and windows xp. But that's what I'm trying to pin down.

We're installing on a 32bit platform, and so far we've just tried the PDF Converter within the application only. I never thought to try it from the outside (I'll have to try that in a bit). I see the error message every time, and it just never works. It feels like there's a write permissions issue somewhere, however I've checked that over and over.

The other odd thing is that when you go to create the pdf, the system sets the PDF Creator as the default printer, but then fails to set back the system printer as the default (thus adding an additional step).

Hello,

Unfortunately, i never used QuickBooks to be able to help you. I don't know of problems with QuickBooks under XP 32-bits. I know that the version of the PDF Converter in QuickBooks is not compatible with 64-bits Operating systems, in this senario we advise customers to use a single user version of the Converter that is compatible with 64-bits.

In your case i am afraid I don't know what to advice you. Please note that to resolve similar cases for third party customers, our Technical Support has established a per incident technical support option. You can submit your request to support@amyuni.com and pay the ticket fees. If your issue was not resolved by our team you will get your money back. For more information please check http://www.amyuni.com/en/support/perincident.html

Hope this helps.
