NT Error Writing to LPT1:

Post by blawshe »

We have amyuni in production and working on all our clients machines. But, the handful of NT 4 machines they have do not work. Even logging in as administrator, I have to install it with the developer executable. Then when printing (still as administrator) I get an Error writing to LPT1:... The device is not ready.

Anyone have a clue where to look for a solution for this or ring any bells?

Thanks!

Hello,

The PDF Converter should work on NT 4. I guess you are using the PDF Converter and not the PDF Creator, am I right?

Which version of the PDF Converter are you using?

If you are using version 2.10, please check that you are activating the printer before printing to it.

I didn't really get what you mean by 'developer executable'.

Please give more details on how you are installing the PDF Converter, which version you are installing and how you are printing to it.

Thanks.

we're on 2.10... and we do activate it first, set it as default, etc. The code works fine on our 2k/xp machines. Normally we just have the dll's in with it, since one of your tips was that if the user didn't have priviledges, to install the printer driver manually, I decided to give that a go too, that's what I meant by that... normal routine is to have the dll's there and create the printer from the program. The printer is set to default when we get the error, and has the correct registration in the properties box. Just gives that error message after about a minute of sitting there with the "Preparing page 1 of 1" message box.

To print to it we just enable the printer, set the default file names, set it as the default printer, and print out our docs normally. Then reset the printer back to old defaults.

Thanks!

if it helps at all, your guys's powerbuilder application ends in the same problem as the above. I'm logged in as administrator on the system, so I have rights to do whatever.

Hello,

We have encountered an issue similar to what you described which was caused by hotfix. Removing the hotfix solved the issue.

It appeared that the hotfix Q328310 from Microsoft support is causing the problem.
Here is the link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;328310

Hope this helps?

I'm too have this same trouble, but if I save the pdf in the server machine, it functions, only if I try to save in cliente machine this error occurs, and I'm logged as admininstrator.
