Registry access

Post by DamianPM »

Is it necessary write access in HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\<Printer Name> for all users?
Because when printing it creates new registry keys like Jobs Locks, and new registry values also. Therefore I think, for all user groups write access is necessary.
Am I correct?

The PDF Converter driver functions by reading and writing printer settings to and from the system registry. All users of the PDF Converter must have at least read/write privileges to the "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\<Printer Name>" and "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software" keys in the registry.

If the user does not have permissions to access these keys, the conversion process will fail and the "Printer not activated Error code -20” or "Printer not activated Error code -41” error messages will get generated.

In order to resolve your issue, please give the “Everyone” group permissions to these keys.

Since Windows 7 this has been enabled by default and for some server installs based on its default settings it may be required to allow the "Everyone" group Full Control.
