Slow performance on Windows Server 2008 R2
We are running the latest version of Amyuni PDF Converter 4.5.2.1. Printing a 13 page document on Windows 2003 Server takes 1 or 2 seconds. Printing the same document on Windows Server 2008 R2 takes around 30 seconds. Are there any known performance issues on this operating system?

There are no known issues with the Amyuni PDF Converter 4.5.2.1 in regards to slowness on Server 2008 R2. It is difficult to determine as to why you are experiencing this and we would need more information. Can you send along the outputted PDF file and perhaps a code snippet and pre-PDF to support@amyuni.com.

I believe we have found a solution. Changing the advanced printer properties from the default setting of "Print directly to the printer" to "Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster", improved the performance to what we were seeing on Windows Server 2003.
Would it be possible for you take make this the default setting when installing the printer on Windows Server 2008 R2?

The reason for the different behaviour using spooling or direct printing is this:
The features that are added to the output PDF document after conversion, must be added in a step called post processing.
The post processing step occurs at the very end of the conversion process, once the “plain” output PDF is obtained. This is the case of direct printing setting.
If the printer is set to spooling, there is no further control over the printing document. So no post processing can be done in this case.
The features that are included in post processing (and will not work when spooling is set) are:
Watermarks
Encryption
Digital Signature
Linearization
Optimization
AutoHyperlinks
AutoBookmarks
Additional conversions to HTML, RTF, JPEG, etc
Append
Merge
All of these features will be ignored if the printer is set to spooling. For customers that do not use any post processing, spooling is the best option.
