Developer license capabilities

Post by JamieStdReg »

Hello -- I'm a very new user of Amyuni, as I have inherited a project that incorporates the software. We purchased a license for "Amyuni PDF Suite ActiveX (Converter - Creator) Professional Version for Windows® Developer License" (version 2.51), which I have installed successfully as a part of our application. We have a printer that is installed and is used to deliver a PDF document to our application.

Our end users are now ALSO asking for an additional printer to be defined that simply prints to a PDF file, but gives the user the option of browsing to specify the location and filename of the print job.

Does my developer license enable me to create such a printer (outside of our own application), or is that capability restricted to the End User version? I have downloaded the trial version of PDF Converter (under End User Products on your web site) and that seems to do exactly what is being requested. Will we (or our customer) need to purchase End User licenses for this capability?

If my license DOES allow me to create this printer for our customer, how should I go about installing/creating it?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Hello Jamie,

For this functionality you need to have the End User version. If many of your customers are asking for this functionality you can act as a reseller, buy the end user licenses and resell them to your customers. The licenses will be registered for your customers but you will be invoiced for the license fees. Or you can direct your customers to order the products directly from our website.

Thank you for the prompt response Joan. If adding a printer to do this work requires the End User license, what about adding the "save as" functionality into our own application (a job ticketing app called "PDF Submit")? Would that be permissable under the developer license? Would this functionality fall under the "Special Licensing" section listed here: http://www.amyuni.com/en/developer/lice ... cense.html ? If so, what would the pricing be for the Special Licensing mentioned?

Thanks again!

Hello Jamie,

I am afraid i do not have enough information to answer your question.

I suggest that you send an email to sales@amyuni.com describing what your application does and explaining to them that you need to allow your users to have the "save as" dialog box to be able to decide where to save the generated pdf file. You can check with them what type of licensing covers this senario and what are the licensing fees.

Please note that in this case your users will be able to generate pdf files only from inside your application and not from any other Windows application on their system.
