[SOLVED] PDF converter in Vista x64
[SOLVED] PDF converter in Vista x64
Hi,
I see that PDF converter 3.0 supports Windows XP/2003 x64 and Vista. But does it support Vista x64?
It doesn't work for us with Vista x64.
Thanks
Benoit

Hello,
Did you try version 3.01a?
It is supposed to Work under Vista 64bits, but you will need to do a small workaround:
Please create a new port and attach the PDF Printer to the newly created port.
This should help.

Hi,
Thanks it works now with the new Port (even with the version 3.0).
Questions:
Why we have to do that and it is only for Vista x64?
Where I could see this information?
Is this workaround needed in version 3.0a? If yes, do you plan to have a fix for that?
Thanks

Hello Raimon,
Yes, this is supposed to be fixed, not in 3.02 because 3.02 is already in the pre-release stage, this will be fixed in the following release hopefully.
Have a nice day,

Hi,
On x64 system you suggested to create a new port and attach the PDF Printer to the newly created port. It works fine for a x64 Vista workstation.
But when I try to do the same thing on a W2k3 TS server, it works only for users having administrator wright!
Any idea why?
I have created a 'local port' and there is no propertie to change (like security)
Thanks
Benoit

Same problem
Hi there,
I'm seeing the same problem, our users need Power User rights to use the PDF converter printer on Windows 2003 x64 or Windows XP x64. On Windows Vista x64 it is no problem! Is there any solution to this problem yet?

Hello,
The PDF Converter driver functions be reading and writing printer settings to the registry. All users of the PDF Converter must have at least read/write privileges to the "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\<Printer Name>" and "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software" keys in the registry. If the users do not, then an issue similar to what you are describing will occur.
Can you verify if this helps?

My restricted users already had rights to write to "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software\<Printer Name>". I've added "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\Software", logged out my user, logged in again, retried, and the result is the same: the job still hangs in the printer queue with an error status.Jose wrote:The PDF Converter driver functions be reading and writing printer settings to the registry. I gave read/write access to the branch HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG for my non adminstrative users and I still have the same problem.
