PDF Converter certification for Windows XP ends May 31, 2011

Post by Devteam »

Important Message for Amyuni Customers:
We have been informed by Microsoft that as of June 1st, 2011, they will not be accepting any more device driver certifications for Windows XP 32 or 64-bit systems. This means that PDF Converter version 4.5.0.7 will be the last version to obtain Windows XP certification.

The Microsoft Newsletter announcing the end of XP certifications can be found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows ... e/gg585608

Release Plans
We are currently working on certifying version 4.5.0.6 which will be followed in May by version 4.5.0.7 and this will be the last XP certified version. After May 31, any minor or major releases for PDF Converter will only obtain certification for Vista and higher operating systems.

Actions taken to limit inconveniences to customers
The PDF Converter product is divided into 2 main pieces: The Document Converter printer driver and the CDINTF interface. The printer driver rarely requires any modifications and the end of the certification should not create serious issues. CDINTF.DLL goes through more fixes and improvements and not being able to update it for Windows XP might be a problem to our customers as a large user-base is still using XP. In order to overcome this issue, we added a mechanism that enables us to update CDINTF without affecting the driver certification. Instructions will be provided to developers who will find the need for an updated DLL after the end of the certification.
