Hi all,
Using Amyuni Document Converter Suite (PDF, RTF modules) for developers, version 2.1, we have had good success with the program and no problems that we could not overcome with now a few hundred installations. But, we now have a problem with a user installation receiving an "Error Code: 193 Unknown error...Printer setup failed..." error.
We tried a manual installation using the Printer Wizard and an inf file supplied by Amyuni, but that fails with the Add Printer Wizard giving only a "Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed" messagebox. Other printers have installed without problem.
The system is an updated Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop.
I cannot find an explanation of the "Error Code: 193" with a search of the Amyuni support site. Any suggestions at this point?
Thanks in advance,
...Mark
Installation Error Code: 193
Installation Error Code: 193
Hi Jose,
Here's the contents of the install.log file from the customer's attempted installation, which contains additional information to what was originally reported verbally to us:
===========================
Windows 2000/XP Install
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EPSKED PDF
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Copying and registering ActiveX file
Error Code: 32
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing printer driver
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing printer
Error Code: 193
Unknown Error...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Printer setup failed
Error Code: 193
Unknown Error...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
===========================
We had not been aware of the "Error Code: 32 The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
After rerunning the "install -u", we searched for these files as instructed elsewhere:
acfpdf.dll
cdintf.dll
acfpdf.drv
acfpdfu.dll (possibly not installed)
acfpdfui.dll (possibly not installed)
acfpdf.txt
pdfmon.dll (possibly not installed)
acpdfui*.dll
acpdfu*.dll(possibly not installed)
acpdf*.dll
and found residual files:
cdintf210.dll - one copy in the system32 folder
acfpdf.txt - two copies, in the system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 folder and a "2" subfolder
acpdf210.dll - two copies, in the system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 folder and a "2" subfolder
After these were removed (renamed) a reinstall of the the PDF printer using the install.exe was normal and successful.
I hope this is useful to someone else. Thanks for your help.
